Haruka Horiuchi is a Japanese filmmaker currently based between Japan and New York City. She earned her B.A. in Film Production from Brooklyn College, where her thesis film, The Visit, received several honors including the National Board of Review 2024 Student Grant Award. 
She currently works as a college assistant at John Jay College of Criminal Justice while pursuing her MFA at Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema.
Inspired by Japanese authors such as Kaori Ekuni, Osamu Tezuka, and Yasutaka Tsutsui, Haruka creates films that explore the complexities of early adulthood, women’s experiences, and cross-cultural identity.
