Haruka Horiuchi is a filmmaker who moved from Japan to New York to pursue her passion for storytelling through film. After graduating from high school in Japan, Haruka embarked on her filmmaking journey at Brooklyn College.
During her time at film school, Haruka created several short films, exploring various genres and styles. Her thesis short film, The Visit, which she wrote and directed, has won several awards including the National Board of Review 2024 Student Grant Award.
Deeply inspired by the bittersweet emotions captured in the works of Japanese authors like Kaori Ekuni and Yasutaka Tsutsui, Haruka strives to bring similar poignant and evocative moments to her films.
